Your home is personal.
This policy explains how HouseMarks handles information in the app and when you contact support.
Effective date: October 9, 2026
HouseMarks is provided by Austin Shaffer. For privacy questions, contact ajshaffer05@gmail.com.
1. Projects stored on your device
HouseMarks stores projects in the app’s local storage. Projects can contain room and floor names, pins and lines, measurements, notes, photos, AR localization maps and reference images, LiDAR-derived surface geometry, infrastructure evidence, wall records, tasks, checklists, equipment information, layout plans, material estimates, and recovery copies. Preferences such as units and tutorial settings are also stored locally.
The app does not require a HouseMarks account and does not send project contents to a HouseMarks server. App data may be included in device backups managed by Apple, depending on your settings.
2. Camera, motion, LiDAR, and photos
Camera, motion, and depth information are processed on your device to track movement, place marks, estimate measurements, scan visible surfaces, and restore alignment. Reference camera images and localization data may be saved with a project to help resume it. HouseMarks does not use these inputs to identify you or automatically transmit them to the developer.
When you select a photo to attach, a copy may be saved in the project. Apple’s photo picker may retrieve selected photos from iCloud. You can manage camera permission in iOS Settings; AR features require camera access.
3. Exports, sharing, and external links
When you choose an export or sharing destination, the selected information is provided to that destination. Project backups may include photos, notes, marks, and AR localization data. Reports and snapshots may show your home or project details. Geometry exports contain spatial geometry; diagnostic exports contain technical status and counts and may include your description.
Cloud storage, messaging, email, and other destinations handle their copies under their own policies. Opening an equipment manual or another external link visits that website. Review exported material before sharing it.
4. Accounts, advertising, and analytics
The current HouseMarks app has no user accounts, in-app purchases, advertising SDKs, third-party analytics SDKs, or cross-app tracking. HouseMarks does not sell project data. Apple may process App Store, TestFlight, or diagnostic information under Apple’s policies and your settings; Apple may make tester feedback or diagnostics available to the developer.
5. Support correspondence
If you email support, Austin Shaffer receives your email address, message, and any attachments you choose to provide. This information is used to respond to your request and investigate issues. Support email is handled through Gmail under Google’s applicable terms and privacy policy. Do not include information or project files you do not want to share.
Support correspondence is retained as needed to resolve the request and maintain necessary support records. You may ask for deletion by emailing the address above; information may be retained where needed to meet legal obligations or resolve disputes.
6. Retention and deletion
Local project data remains until you delete it, uninstall the app, or device storage management affects it. Deleting a project retains a local recovery point. To remove remaining recovery copies, use Projects → Recovery history; automatic rolling retention may also remove older copies.
Uninstalling the app removes its local app data. Exported files, shared reports, screenshots, and device backups are separate copies and must be managed through their respective apps, providers, or backup settings. The developer cannot remotely access or delete projects stored only on your device.
7. This website
These support and privacy pages do not include advertising, analytics scripts, contact forms, or application cookies. The hosting provider may process technical request information, such as IP addresses and browser information, to deliver and protect the website. Clicking an email link opens your email application; a message is sent only when you choose to send it.
8. Children
HouseMarks is a general home-planning utility and is not directed to children under 13. The developer does not knowingly collect personal information from children. Contact support if you believe a child has provided personal information through a support request.
9. Changes and contact
This policy may be updated when the app or its data practices change. The effective date above identifies the current policy.
